Janet Brougham Residential Care Home, Dundee built in 2008. Age group: 77- 100

Follow the Care Commission, housing for older people should become an exemplar for mainstream housing, and meet higher design standards for space and quality. Good design in Janet Brougham: Solar Room could provide a pivotal and important function for the Elderly in the Home as it would become a social hub for the users and the community in providing a positive environment.

The Janet Brougham replacement home is the third in a series of dementia friendly residential homes undertaken in recent years by Dundee City Council.

Green Conversation

My project “Green Conversation aims to investigate the value of good and innovation design for residential care homes for the Elderly. It is seeking to establish which aspects of design can benefit the Elderly and their carers. This is a furniture design as well as props to help user to manage their plants and to communicate together. It gives them something to nurture and care for. This allows them to interact with nature and benefit themselves, families and friends.
